Program Description:
In this abstract painting class, participants will connect with creativity using acrylic paints, allowing them to explore vibrant colors and express themselves freely. This class offers a gentle and encouraging environment where participants can explore the liberating realm of abstract art. Attuned to the unique needs of individuals with dementia, attendees will embark on a journey of exploration through bold colors, free-form strokes, and imaginative expression.
No prior art experience is necessary; our focus is on fostering a sense of joy and accomplishment through the act of creating. Join us for an enriching experience that transcends traditional boundaries, where each brushstroke becomes a celebration of individuality, encouraging self-expression and promoting a sense of community within our studio.

Facilitator Biography
Carly Wanner-Hyde |LiveWell Faculty
Carly joins us from the Southington Community Cultural Arts (SoCCA). She is a maker, designer, and excitable creative who enjoys playing with different mediums, especially soft pastel, and weaving storytelling into her art. She has a background in traditional art, film photography, woodworking, product design, 3D modeling and animation, and user experience/human centered design. Currently, her work includes creating murals, designing brand identities, creating commissioned paintings, facilitating workshops, and user experience and interface design. Carly holds a BFA from the University of Connecticut and has contributed her illustration work to award winning short stories. In her free time, Carly can be found playing outside, throwing pottery, painting with pastels, hiking in the woods, practicing yoga, and spending time travelling in her RV with her partner, Ian, and dog, Momo.
