Program Description:
Singing contains a variety of health benefits for everyone but is especially beneficial for people with Parkinson’s and anyone with vocal challenges. Through choir warmup exercises and singing favorite tunes, build and maintain vocal strength with us in a fun and supportive environment with others on a similar journey!
Engaging in this choir will promote your ability to:
- Maintain vocal strength, volume, & diction
- Support positive mood through singing
- Decrease stress
- Meet new friends on a similar journey
Facilitator Biography
Shannon Kiley | LiveWell Faculty
Shannon brings together diverse bodies of knowledge and experience into her practice as a master’s level board certified music therapist. Shannon offers both music and movement groups at LiveWell as opportunities to play with "life source energy". Her clinical work has brought her to a wide variety of settings including hospitals, schools, homes, rehabilitation centers, hospices and residential living communities.
Shannon is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist musician, songwriter, and music producer, releasing music under the moniker Olive Tiger. She views the creative process and the recording studio as a call to growth and courage, and loves supporting others in that experience. Shannon began practicing tai chi in 2008 with the Taoist Tai Chi Society and remains a lifelong student of meditative movement. She cultivates regular yoga and mindfulness practices and loves to read and walk.
