Program Description: 
This course is designed exclusively for individuals experiencing early cognitive change to moderate dementia. CST has been found to improve general cognitive functioning, language comprehension and production, and quality of life. Each CST session is designed to stimulate thinking and memory, and connect with others in a fun, social, and relaxed atmosphere. The sessions follow a general theme, with activities chosen based on the interests of the group. Groups are limited to 6-8 participants. Our approach to brain fitness is an evidence-based practice referred to as Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and is delivered by LiveWell’s trained dementia specialists.

Participants will take active steps to: 
- Improve brain function 
- Maintain independence 
- Decrease depression 
- Build confidence 
- Improve self-esteem 








Facilitator Biography
Thomas Hayden, MM, MT-BC | LiveWell Faculty
Tom is passionate about making a positive impact in the world and building community connections. He is a pioneer member of the LiveWell Faculty, holding many leadership roles over the past 10 years including the Director of Community Services, the Adult Day Center, and as an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University. As a seasoned Board-Certified Music Therapist with specialized training in neurologic music therapy, he has focused on the use of music to connect, elevate, and embrace different abilities associated with changes in cognition. Always curious, Thomas loves to learn and recently graduated from the executive MPH program at the Yale School of Public Health. He has also served on the executive board of the Connecticut Association of Adult Day Services. Among many interests, he has championed the initiation of the LiveWell Community Choir, Hootenanny, and music themed CST. An avid disc golfer, Thomas enjoys traveling throughout New England and exploring new disc golf courses.
