Series Description: 
Express yourself with paint, drawing, and collage with intuition as your guide. Have fun with new tools and techniques. Participants will paint to music, use prompts, make marks, use collage papers, collaborate, and more.

Participants will work with award-winning fine artist Deborah velasquez who believes everyone can create. With her guidance, participants are offered the opportunity for creative self-discovery and to meet their inner artist.

In these workshops Deborah will share techniques and playful strategies to enhance one's work.  she will guide participants from paper, to paint, to canvas.  This is a great opportunity for participants to begin their painting journey or just relax and have fun.   Participants will be supplied with materials. No experience necessary.

Facilitator Biography

Deborah Velasquez | LiveWell Guest Artist
Deborah Velásquez, a Brooklyn original, lives the creative life in the wooded hills of New England with her husband and two boys. She is an award-winning artist, designer and the author of Drawing in Black and White. She loves the mix of design, words, art, and craft. Her work is modern, sophisticated, graphic, and bold and reflects her love nature and the simplicity of line. She makes art digitally as well as using traditional methods, including gouache, watercolor, and printmaking. 

Deborah is a graduate of the Colorado Institute of Art and the University of Hartford Entrepreneurial Business program. She has studied textiles and fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, where she received her Millinery Certification, studying under hat legend Ann Albrizio. Her original artworks have been exhibited in numerous galleries and juried shows, and she teaches workshops in her Connecticut studio. A career highlight was when she was invited by The Smithsonian in Washington to speak and facilitate a workshop from her published book.

Her designs can be found on products such as rugs, wall art, ceramics, stationery, textiles, and mobiles, and her hats were featured at New York’s Henri Bendel. She has been featured in UPPERCASE magazine, Latina Magazine, Redbook Magazine, HGTV magazine, Target Stores, Domino Magazine online and is carried by Minted, West Elm, Habitat UK, CarpetVista of Sweden, Bed Bath and Beyond, Wayfair, Walmart and giftware and home décor licensing companies.
